2015 / XIAO KE × ZI HAN
Miniascape
Theatre

PROJECT NOTE
Miniascape was built by Xiao Ke and Zi Han at Kanagawa Arts Theatre in 2015, commissioned by TPAM 2015. Covering 144 square metres, it meticulously brings minimalism and chaos together. The artists spent two months researching and interviewed nearly thirty Japanese people of varied ages and occupations.
The work is influenced by the philosophies of karesansui and bonsai, and reflects on Japanese daily life after the earthquake, tsunami, and the dispersion of radioactive materials. From February 2015, the artists gradually removed direct Japanese references to establish their own artistic language.
