CHINAME

CHINAME is a long-term contemporary theatre project initiated by Xiao Ke × Zi Han in 2018. It explores personal and national identity through lived experience, asking what “Chinese” can mean across different social, historical, and geographical contexts.

The artists merge CHINA and NAME to form CHINAME. Research undertaken in different regions developed into local exhibitions and live-performance versions, alongside interview documentaries and portraits. The project opens a temporary contact zone for encounters around Chinese identity.
